WordPress 2.7 Good To Go!

The long awaited version of WordPress, 2.7 is out and normally I wait a week or two when a new WP version is released befor upgrading but I like many others have been looking forward to this one.

So, I held my breath and clicked a few buttons.I had heard from a few people that they had a few tiny hiccups but they got them sorted without too much fuss and most importantly, loss of data.

Since I found the WP automatic upgrade plugin, updating to newer versions had not been a problem for me. I could do it manually but why get dishwashing hands when you have an automatic dishwasher, or drive a manual car in a city, when you have an automatic.

Well I’m happy to say that it all went swimmingly, no problem except the auto activating of the plugins that worked fine in the previous version, didn’t work for me this time. But that may have been something I did or didn’t do.Will check on that when I upgrade another site.

If you thought the upgrade to the 2.5 version was different, then this one is different again and will take a little learning as to what new features are there and what is available.

There are some great features by the look of it. As I have the WPQueen’s WordPress Bible, Leanne was kind enough to send through the upgrade to her ebook for the WP 2.7 version. So I will have that to refer to. Have had a quick look through the ebook and as usual, Leanne has been very thorough.

For those of you who stayed away from upgrading manually or even with the automatic plugin or if you paid someone to do it for you, well, I’m happy to say, it is a breeze now. Did you ever do the automatic upgrade for a plugin? That was one of the best things the powers that be at WordPress, had done. Made upgrading plugins a snip.

Well, I’m happy to say, that is how you will upgrade to the newer versions from now on. It’s just clicking an upgrade button and there will be the latest version.

And I though the WP Automatic Upgrade plugin was the bees knees.

There is another cool feature, you can arrange the dashboard for how you use WordPress, take only what you use for your dashboard, no more clutter or excess.

There is another feature with the plugins, haven’t tried it yet but from what I understand, we won’t have to FTP plugins anymore either. It will be all done through the dashboard.

I love the WordPress platform, it just keeps getting better and better.

Catch up again soon

Cheers

Carmel

PS I’ll upgrade this site tomorrow, getting past my bedtime now.
