Cyber Shoplifters, How Do They Get Their Kicks?
What do people who steal from others on the Internet get out of it. I call them cyber shoplifters, petty thieves.
In the off line world, shoplifters get a bit of an adrenalin rush when they get away with stealing from retail stores. They’ve beat the security system and the store detective/detection.
But in the online world, where or how do they get their kicks? Do they get any satisfaction from sitting in front of their computer,
Googling all the different words that will get them through to a download page to steal someone’s product…..the mind boggles at the mentality….you have to feel sorry for them. What a life they must have or NOT!!! Some achievement.
I know there are forums where they pass around how they got to these download pages but they are still nameless/faceless, they use avatars and nicknames so no one really knows who or what they are. Still with achievements like they have, maybe that is the idea.
Recently someone got through to a download page of mine, well to actually get there they had to subscribe to my list for that product and as soon as that happened and no payment, I sent them an email asking for their receipt number so I could put them in a draw for ‘money’ prize competition. Naturally I didn’t hear….lol.
But then I went to the site and checked on a great WordPress plugin called StatsPress Reloaded. This plugin shows you the terms searched and the page on your site that is accessed.
There was only the one search that qualified. So I went and changed everything that this ‘petty thief/cyber shoplifter’ could have passed on.
Then for several days everytime the search term appeared in the StatsPress they went through to another page. So my little cyber shoplifter looked like a ‘BIG DUMBE DILL’ to those on the forums where he big-noted himself.
Not the most satisfying experience for the poor little no-name/no-face.
So if you want very up to date stats, take a look at StatsPress Reloaded, it’s a free plugin and well worth adding to your favourite plugins list. You can take a look at it here
Well that’s my little tip for today, take care and I’ll catch you later.

A Lil’Bit About WordPress You May Not Know
I had payed and signed up for a membership, registered and confirmed my subscription and waited for the next step.
Nothing…..no email telling me how to access, checked the trash folder…..nothing.
Now this membership was set up with WordPress, which is fine, I’ve joined many membership sites set up with WordPress. Actually I’m getting ready to set up one myself. And….I’m very thankful that this happened as you will see.
Anyway, I was about to contact the person who owned the site when I needed to check a few of the folders that I have emails directed to and there it was…Guess who sent it? WordPress….that’s who it was from and I have a folder where anything with WordPress in the ‘From’ goes directly to that particular folder(the folder is called something else, not WordPress but that’s my filing system).![]()
I have never had a site where ‘anyone can register’ so had never come across this before.
Now I was adding the plugin Web Invoices to one of my sites to make sending accounts to clients easier. This is a great plugin, actually there are two of them, I’ll tell you my pick later.
With this plugin, you need to enter your clients, they don’t register, that’s how my site is set. They need a username and password to access their past invoices and the WordPress will send that to them automatically the same as if they were registering as a new user.
So that was the email that would go out to clients and they would have no idea why they were getting an email from WordPress and who the heck is WordPress anyway? (these clients don’t do much stuff on the Internet)
So Google, being such a good friend of mine, helped me to find a plugin for WordPress that would solve this problem.
There are a couple, actually three that I considered. The one I chose has templates of the emails which can be easily changed to suit and now the clients will know just who is sending them an email.
If you install it through your dashboard, which is very easy, that should be the latest version, (I had to upgrade mine as soon as it was activated) so check just in case, because the latest version has some really good ‘Settings’ options. You can reword the email that goes to the client/user and even send a test so that you are sure it is right.
This is the plugins site.

And it works like a treat!!

Dust Off The CyberDust – WPUnique Is Here! An Update -
This is an update about the WPUnique, WordPress Plugin.
Late yesterday I was finishing off a site and there was some content needed on three pages. So I thought I would try using something I already had.
I had submitted articles for this site to EZA and the content in three of them was perfect for these pages. I didn’t need the content for the site to be as much as the articles contained so I took sections of them about 200+ words and added them to the relevant pages.
On this site I had installed WPUnique and had it set to ‘unique’ all the pages and posts, you can do that with an option in the settings.
Now on the individual pages and posts there is also an option to change that setting to something else.
I wanted to see how the ‘spin’ option would work on these articles, I’m not a great lover of spin unless I have set up the options in Magic Article Rewriter.
I also have a program that checks the original and the spin or rewrite version of an article for the percentage of uniqueness.
So, with setting up nothing for the spin options, using it ‘out-of-the-box’, the uniqueness from the originals came out at – 32.58%, 37.45% and wait for it 55.56% and…….there was only one word that needed changing.
Now that’s what I call – Uniquely Brilliant!!!!!!
I did check some of the PLR articles that I had included on another site through my checkup program and guess what – from the original to the article on the site, it was 100% unique, now reading that article on the site, it read exactly the same as the original but my checkup program, when I copied and pasted it into there, from the live page, it was 100% unique…….that is how the search engines see it – 100% different from anything else out there on the ‘Live WWW’.
That’s why WPUnique is – Uniquely Brilliant – all this duplicate content – well is simply disappears, no-more, not-a-worry, no-no-dupe. Love It!!!
I know there will be those who say you still have to rewrite PLR articles, (yes you do – for submitting to article directories, not EZA though, they don’t accept rewrites of PLR)
And…there are those who say you still have to wash your dishes by hand and dry them by hand too, all the while having a perfectly good automatic dishwasher.
Or…those who say you still have to install WordPress manually while there is a perfectly good Fantastico sitting on their Cpanel.
Or…those who say the only cricket to watch or go to, is a test match while eveyone is out having fun at a 20-20 or a One Day game and it is the 20-20 and One Dayers that is putting bums on seats and allowing the test matches to continue…….
Sorry got off the track a little there, but you know what I mean. If you have PLR articles sitting on your computer with, as they say, cyber dust all over them, blow the dust and cobwebs off, go get WPUnique while it is at this great price (I can’t see it staying there, it is too good), set up your niche sites and make some money, add Adsense, Clickbank, make your own product, whatever……..just do it!!!!
Click here, yes it is my affiliate link and I do stand to make a few dollars and so can you, but you won’t unless you – and you know what’s next – TAKE ACTION!!!!
Catch you later,
Cheers

This Is Really Unique – WPUnique Plugin
I haven’t been here for a little while, actually it is much longer than I thought, as the saying goes, time flies when you are having fun.
It is great when work can be classed as fun.
Apart from the ‘fun’ I have managed to find some great tools and products which I will fill you in on over the next few days.
The first one is a, wait for it, WordPress (knew it would be that didn’t you) Plugin. This is no ordinary plug,, no this one is unique and so simple to use too.
Now it is not a free plugin and after you find out what it does, you wouldn’t expect to get something this powerful for free. But the price is right……
Okay! Here it is!!
WPUnique……now can you guess what it does?
Yes! it turns your PLR content into unique content, actually it turns any content you have on your site into unique content.
Watch the videos here.…..I tried what is in the videos and my results were really, really good!
A site that I installed the plugin on was really doing nothing, looking great but doing nothing. I had heaps of PLR articles and content for the niche but was too busy with other work to rewrite the articles and unique them.
After adding the WPUnique plugin and setting up the un-rewritten, PLR articles to drip feed onto the site, I noticed the traffic to the
site had increased to the point where the month was only a couple of days old and the visitors had increased to many more than the two previous months. And….visitors who will leave a comment too, not just the ‘link’ kind of comment either, a comment relevant to the article they have read, and by that, you can see they have really read the article.
I’m not going to try to explain the WPUnique plugin to you, I’ll let the developer do that, Steve does it so much better than I can. I can only tell you the results I have been getting and they are only two instances.
But I will give you an outline of what else this plugin can do -
You can unique all your posts and pages.
You can unique individual posts and pages
You can spin all content.
You can spin individual content.
You can link keywords up to your money products
You can make these links Dofollow or not
And -
The links can be opening in a new window or not.
With the unique option for posts and pages, they still read the exactly the same, it is not the visitor who picks up the duplicate content, it is the search engines and that is where the content is made unique, all above board too, not black-hat stuff.
So far I have only used the spin option on one site and on one article but even without setting up the ‘necessary’, the article still read well and was 32% unique from the original. So with a little bit of work there, this will be a winner too.
Okay, if you are like me and have lots of PLR stuff, even a little PLR stuff, then this is the plugin for you, don’t take time to think about it, give your brain a rest, this is one of those ‘no-brainers’, or as they say in Nikeland – “Just Do It!!!”
Head on over to WPUnique now, read all about it, watch Steve’s video but most importantly, make the decision to ‘get it’…….
Catch you later
Cheers

Cannot Login To Your WordPress Site/Blog?
Cannot Login To My WordPress Site
If this ever happens to you, don’t panic, don’t go changing your password. Take a deep breath, go get your coffee/tea/soft beverage of choice and prepare for an almost mind numbing experience, ( the harder beverage of choice can come later, you’ll enjoy it more then)
In more cases than not, the reason you cannot login to your WordPress site/blog is caused by a plugin. I said “take a deep breath etc” because if you have many plugins then this little job can take some time.

Firstly to be able to login, go to your FTP client and change the name of the plugins folder to anything you like as long as it is not just ‘plugins’. I changed mine to oldplugins.
Now go back and try to login, you should have access now. In the Plugins section you should have error messages for all your plugins telling you that they cannot be found and have been deactivated or something to that effect.
Next make a folder on your desktop or wherever you like and call it ‘oldplugins’ then download all the plugins from that folder on your site.
Make a new folder in your wp-comments called, you guessed it, plugins.
Now the ‘fun’ begins! Upload each plugin that is in the ‘oldplugins’ folder to the new ‘plugins’ folder, one at a time.
So what you do is:-
Upload plugin.
Activate plugin
Log out
Log in
If you get back into your site, that plugin is fine.
If you find that the plugin from your folder needs upgrading after you upload it, don’t do the upgrade before you log out and then in. If the logging out and in works, then upgrade the plugin and try the log out and in again.
Do this for every plugin and you should find that after activating one of them, you will not be able to login. That one till be the culprit.
Go back to your FTP client, delete it from your system and if it is for a function that you cannot live without, there is probably another that will perform the same or similar function.
This incompatibility can happen after installation of a new plugin or an upgrade of a plugin too, could be the WP version and the plugin version not getting along.
I did think that the way the auto upgrade for plugins in the 2.8 version was great and it still is but from now on I will only ever upgrade one plugin per login session and make sure I can log out and in again.
Thank goodness all is back to normal, well normal for me, could be different for you
WordPress 2.8 Wait!
Don’t know about you, but some days I start out with what I feel is a simple job, the first one of the day should always be pleasant and straight forward. That kind of sets the tone for the day, hopefully and most days it goes like that. Not today….
If you have anything to do with WordPress, then you will surely know that WordPress 2.8 has been released.
My advice would be, leave it go a couple of weeks, there are always things that don’t go to plan and 2.8 is no different.
Many will upgrade and have no problems but there will be issues with many others. It seems like there are a couple of plugins that can cause hiccups, like not being able to view the admin/dashboard and/or the site.
It is very tempting now that it is so easy to upgrade, to select the Upgrade option in the tools area but take it carefully.
I would be inclined, if you can’t wait, to deactivate all your plugins before you hit the ‘Upgrade automatically’ and then activate one at a time. Seems like there are a few that don’t want to play the game and from what I have seen, this seems to be the most common problem.
If you do go ahead and upgrade and if you do have problems, then this link may help you out, Troubleshooting and if you do have problems with the plugins and can’t access your Dashboard to get to the plugins area then here is a workaround that I was directed to over on the WordPress Forum. Actually that is a handy one to keep bookmarked for any other occasion that plugins or not accessing your dashboard, may be a problem.
There are some nice looking areas in the dashboard, like if you use Widgets for your sidebars, much easier to get around. You can now drag and drop widgets that have been in use and keep the settings. All the sidebars are visable and you save each widget as you go, so you don’t have to worry about setting up your widgets and forgetting to use the Save changes and losing the Widget and it’s info.
You can now Preview, Activate or Delete a theme from the actual Theme graphic also you can now select what you would like for your theme, like colors, number of columns, column widths, features like, custom headers, theme options, threaded comments etc, just tick the boxes and you will be taken to the search for themes option with all your wanted items already entered.
With the Plugins, there is now an option to group all the plugins that need upgrading automatically. So when each plugin is successfully upgraded, you return to the list with that plugin removed from the top.
Very neat and very easy, Oh Boy! when I think about how it was to upgrade a plugin, WordPress has come such a long way and it is just great!
So don’t dispair, be patient and the hiccups will be fixed and your WP sites/blogs will once more be a joy to work with.
This Is Some eBook! WPFIM
It has been a busy time the last couple of weeks. I have been setting up several sites, actually haven’t finished yet, well when do we ever finish!
I have come across several really good ebooks, opportunities, aids for setting up sites and lots more. The opportunities btw are nothing to do with PPC, Adwords and the word ‘blueprint’ is nowhere in site and neither is there a ‘kid’ who has a secret.
In actual fact one of the ebooks, opportunities and aids are all connected. This particular ebook is not bedtime reading, if it was a physical book, I
would never have it as bedtime reading, you see it is 950 pages and I have a rule, when my book hits me on the nose three times, (this means I have nodded off to sleep) then I close it and go to sleep, no way would risk a book this size falling on my nose. I do print out the various sections I want to find out more about though.
This is not a book to sit down to read in one session either. This is the best reference book on WordPress that I have ever seen. I don’t think you would find another book with as much information about a product as this one.
One of the sites I have been planning is a review style site. So, open WordPress For Internet Marketers, that is the name of this ebook and I’m proud to say has been written by a fellow Aussie, Leanne King.
Not only did I find out how to set up the review site, Leanne went on with several other ideas that would expand the site and allow me to make money in areas I wouldn’t have thought of and……all the links, steps and information to make it happen are right there.
So you see, the how to, the where to find the make the how to happen and the ideas to expand and increase the revenue from it all are all there.
To give you and idea of the thoroughness of this ebook, Leanne has provided a chapter that you can download, then you can see for yourself. You may know how to do what this chapter is about, then again you may not but it will let you see how well the information is put together.
If you are wanting to get into WordPress to build you sites then there is no better information product out there than this. But I’m betting if you go ahead and get the book, which I highly recommend, you will have so many moments where the lightbulbs will start flashing and you saying, I didn’t know that was available, WOW! never would have thought to make a site with WordPress that will do such and such.
If you want to take advantage of the complimentary chapter, then add your name and email above and it will be delivered straight to your inbox.
You can find out more or if you wish to go ahead and get the book, then go here right now and Leanne will tell you more or arrange for you to download the ebook.
Till next time, take care.
Cheers
PS You will be glad it is a download product, a 950 page book is rather heavy to carry home
To WWW or Not That Is Google’s Question?
The Plugin That Lets You Have Your Own Way With Google..
If, like I have a couple of times, you have forgotten to check the URL of your WordPress site when you first set it up, click on Settings, the first screen that comes up will have the WordPress Address URL and the Blog Address URL.
For setting up as better Search Engine fodder they should both be:-
http://www. then the domain name. If your site addresses are just the http:// then you are in need of this plugin. It is called Enforce WWW Preference. You can find it here:- Enforce WWW Preferences
Once again, if you have upgraded to the 2.7.1 version of WordPress then all

Smashy download
you need to do is, download the zip file, go to Add New in the Plugins section of your Dashboard menu, browse to where you saved the zip file, click on the Upload button, when the next screen comes up, click on the Activate plugin and you’re nearly done.
One last step, you need to go to Google Webmaster Tools, your Google account gets you in (don’t have a Google account?, sign up for one it’s free).
You need to verify your site by adding a piece of code that is supplied.. This piece of code goes into the header.php file in the Editor Section of Appearance on your site. Look for these tags </head> <body> and paste the code before the </head> tag, click update/save.
Now go back to Google Webmaster Tools and hit the Verify button and all should be well, your site should be verified.
Now in the Webmaster Tools, click on Settings in the side menu and you will see the preferred domain feature options for whichever way you want your URL to be indexed, the www or the non www.
This plugin will help preserve your permalinks by enforcing your no-www or yes-www preference (http://example.com/ vs. http://www.example.com/) and will strip off index.php from the ends of URIs.
Google Webmaster Tools is not a bad place to visit, they have lots of good ‘stuff’ there to help with your sites, have a wander while you’re there doing this.
There you go, some talented person has coded this for you and me, to help us keep the search engines happy and coming back to visit our sites.
If you find the plugin useful, then why not let the person who built it know. If you aren’t comfortable with the Paypal button, Mark has a great wish list with Amazon. Just thought I would mention that as the wish list is a good idea. Go push his buttons, you’ll find them at the bottom of the plugin link here
WordPress 2.7.1 Upgrading and New Plugins Feature
WordPress 2.7.1 version is available and to upgrade is a breeze, literally one click and it’s done. Remember to back up your database first with the inbuilt backup option, it’s under tools.
Great new features in WordPress 2.7 and 2.7.1 gets even better.
Now there is another feature that has changed with this update, it is how you get your plugins. Not sure if it’s me and my computer or it is how things will
be from now on but……..you do it all from your Dashboard Menu for Plugins under Add New.
I have tried uploading a couple of plugins via FTP and they haven’t appeared on the plugins page, seems like it is all done via the Add New section. Which, by the way is very good.
On the Add New page, you can search for plugins via Term, Author and Tag and you will get a list of related keywords with description and rating and the option to install your selection.
There is also several options like, Featured, Popular, Newest and Recently Updated. As of writing, there are
4 Plugins in the Featured section
165 Pages of plugins in the Popular Section
178 Pages of plugins in the Newest
and
178 Pages also in the Recently Updated
That’s a couple or two to check out while you’re waiting for something to upload, download, (good for when a video is buffering/streaming and you have the sound down to zero, so you can listen to it later without the stuttering).
Big choice!
You have the option also to upload a plugin from your computer but it must be in zip format. So no need to download the zip and extract the files anymore, just download the zip and this handy little option uploads the plugin zip and does all the work for you, too easy.
So now I’m off to organise my favourite plugins into a folder with the zip files only. I’ve been known to delete the zips once I’ve extracted the files, so may have some chasing to do. Still when you know what’s ahead, it is a good chase.
WordPress just gets better and better!
Whirlwind WP Travel Tour
I’m back, been away for a little while but back into action, not sure if the ‘rearing to go’ applies, I’m ready to get to it though.
I’m going to start with a little tip. I’ll call it a touring tip. No, not in the travel to exotic places niche, actually it is to the travel through your WordPress sites niche.
Now that WordPress is so streamlined, it is very easy to update the site and plugins. It wasn’t too long ago that this was one of those chores that got
pushed to the back burner, now it is so simple to update everything.
If you have a few sites built on WordPress, at least once a week, set aside a time to travel around them and click the update automatically buttons.
Since version 2.7 of WordPress there has been no need to install the WP Auto Upgrade plugin as 2.7 has this built in. Until the last few days there hasn’t been an upgrade to check out this built-in feature.
I just tested it out. But, before you start, make sure you have the backup database plugin installed. Once installed and activated, you will find it under Tools, that’s where the upgrade is too.
When you click on Upgrade you will get a message to tell you to back up your database before you start. Don’t click on that message instead, click on the link under Tools for Backup and follow the instructions. To save, I select the download to your computer option, make sure you don’t close the browser or reload the page while this is happening. Once done you will receive the download popup, so save it to your downloads file or your desktop. Now your databases have been backed up and you can upgrade WordPress to the latest version.
Now go back to Tools and select Upgrade, click on ‘Upgrade Automatically’. There is no need to select “Download version whatever”. After you click Upgrade Automatically and the magic happens……
Don’t blink or you’ll miss it……this is what you get……
——————————————–
Upgrade WordPress
Downloading update from http://wordpress.org/wordpress-2.7.1.zip
Unpacking the core update
Verifying the unpacked files
Installing the latest version
Upgrading database
WordPress upgraded successfully
———————————————
It will take you much longer to read that message than it does to happen.
There is one important note, if you have the plugin for WP Auto Upgrade installed and activated, deactivate it before you start the upgrade.
How easy is that!
Now go to your plugins and upgrade any of the plugins that need it, and you’re set.
Sweet! I had heard this was going to be good, didn’t realise how good as I thought the plugin to auto update was great……That’s why I call it a Whirlwind WP Travel Tour
